Redeeming Membership Benefits at Checkout
When a client with an active membership checks out, their benefits are shown automatically in the checkout cart. Benefits include service discounts (applied as a price reduction) and session credits (which make a service free).
Location Flexibility
Benefits work across all your locations
A client's membership benefits — both discounts and session credits — can be redeemed at any of your locations, not just the one where they enrolled. You do not need to do anything special; the benefits appear automatically whenever the client is selected at checkout regardless of which location is active.
Service Discounts
If the client has a membership with discount benefits and their cart includes a matching service, a Membership benefits available banner appears in the cart.
Applying Discounts
- In the checkout cart, select the client
- If discount benefits apply, the banner shows the discount (e.g., "20% discount on all services")
- Click Apply to apply the discount to all eligible service line items at once
The highest applicable discount is applied to each service line — if the client has a 10% global discount and a 20% discount on a specific service category, the 20% is applied to services in that category and 10% to all others.
Discounts are applied as a percentage reduction on the line item price. You can still adjust or remove them using the pencil icon on the cart item if needed.
Session Credits
If the client has unused session credits for a service in the cart, the banner shows the available credit (e.g., "2× Deep Tissue Massage credit").
Redeeming a Credit
- In the checkout cart, select the client and add the service
- In the Membership benefits available banner, click Redeem next to the credit
- The service line item is set to $0 (fully covered by the credit)
- The credit is marked as pending — it is not deducted until the sale is completed
You can redeem credits for multiple services in the same transaction if the client has credits for each.
TIP
Clicking Redeem only reserves the credit for this sale. If you close checkout without completing the sale, no credit is consumed.
Completing the Sale
After redeeming credits, proceed to Complete Payment:
If the cart total is $0 (all items fully covered by credits):
- The payment method section is replaced with a confirmation panel: "Fully covered by membership"
- Click Complete Sale — no payment is collected
- The credits are deducted from the client's balance when the sale is recorded
If there is a remaining balance (e.g., the client also has products or services not covered by a credit):
- The payment method grid is shown as normal for the remaining amount
- Select Cash, Card on file, or another method to cover the remainder
- Click Complete Sale — the credits are deducted and the remaining balance is charged in one step
Credit Limits
- Credits are per-service per billing period — a credit for Deep Tissue Massage cannot be applied to Swedish Massage
- Unused credits reset on the 1st of each calendar month and do not carry over
- If the credit has already been fully used for the period, it will not appear in the checkout banner
Viewing Remaining Credits
Current credit balances are visible on the client's Memberships tab in their profile, under each active enrollment.
