Assigning a Resource to a Service

Linking a resource to a service tells DaySpark which physical asset is required to deliver that service. Once assigned, DaySpark will check the resource's availability whenever the service is booked — both through online booking and from the internal calendar.

Prerequisites

You need at least one resource created before you can assign one. See Managing Resources if you haven't set them up yet.

Assigning a Resource

  1. Go to Services and open the service you want to configure.
  2. In the service dialog, find the Locations section. Each location where the service is offered is listed separately.
  3. For the relevant location, open the Resource dropdown and select the resource that this service requires.
  4. Click Save.

Only resources that belong to the selected location appear in the dropdown. If you don't see the resource you need, make sure it was created under the correct location in Settings → Resources.

How It Works After Assignment

Once a resource is assigned:

Online booking — the availability calendar for that service will automatically exclude any time slots where the resource is already in use, so clients only ever see genuinely available times.

Internal calendar — when staff create or reschedule an appointment for this service, DaySpark will flag any overlap with existing appointments using the same resource and prompt for confirmation before saving.

Assigning Different Resources Per Location

If your service is offered at multiple locations and each location has its own asset (e.g. "Laser 1" at one site and "Laser 2" at another), you can assign a different resource for each location. The dropdown for each location only shows resources belonging to that location, so there's no risk of cross-location mix-ups.

Removing a Resource Assignment

To remove a resource from a service:

  1. Open the service dialog.
  2. In the Locations section, open the Resource dropdown for the relevant location.
  3. Select the empty/none option to clear the assignment.
  4. Click Save.

After removal, future bookings for that service will no longer track resource availability. Existing appointments are not affected.
